Endpaper Mitts

These mitts are great for the adventurous knitter who is ready to work with two colors and learn how to follow a chart.  You will also learn the invisible cast on for 1 x 1 rib and sewn tubular bind off.   The pattern is for fingering weight, but could work in a light sport weight, especially for medium/large sizes. 

Session One Class Dates:  Tuesdays,  January 14, 21, & 28    12:30-2:30pm

Materials Needed:   2 colors of fingering weight yarn
                        (we used a striping Nordlys and solid Wildfoot)
                double pointed needles depending on size you are making:
                        small – size 2, med. – size 2.5, large – size 3
                             size 0 double pointed needles (all sizes)

TOMTEN BABY JACKET

Designed by Elizabeth Zimmermann around 1940, this modular garter stitch jacket is still popular today.  The gauge and number of stitches determine the size.  The modular knitting leaves minimal seams to sew up.

MUKLUK
Up north here, everyone loves cozy slippers on a “frosty” winter morning! These Mukluks are a quick knit in bulky yarn. They are knit from the bottom up. I topped mine off with faux fur yarn appropriately called Caribou by HiKoo. My sample is the child’s small, but feel free to make the adult pattern in this class.

WireKnitz Bracelet

Break out your creativity!  This fun new product is already knit for you and through some easy rolling and stitching you can have a bracelet in no time.  We will embellish the bracelet with needle felting and beads to create a one of a kind masterpiece!

WINTER WINGSPAN-LIKE SHAWL

This class is a take off on the popular “Wingspan” shawl typically done in finer weight yarns.  We’ve used a self-striping chunky wt. yarn to achieve a larger and warmer winter shawl.  You will learn easy short row shaping.

BOOT SOCKS ON 9” CIRCULAR NEEDLES

Want to knit socks but you don’t like double pointed needles?  Here is your answer!  A nine inch circular needle.  This is a great first sock project.

Learn how to knit mittens!  They can be great fun, and with super bulky yarn, they will be done in no time.  This is also a great class for those who want to learn how to knit with double pointed needles.

Slip Stitch Cowl

Crochet Urban Revival Beanie

This hat is right on trend!  Just the right amount of slouch.  Crocheted in the round, the band is made separately and added at the end.  Students need to know the basics of crochet before taking this class, chain, single crochet, and double crochet.

Girl’s Top Down Cardigan

Knitting from the top down is a great way to learn to knit a sweater. This method allows you to try it on as you knit for a perfect fit. It also has the added benefit of knitting the sweater in one piece for no sewing together in the end! If you have mastered knit and purl 2014 is the time to move on with a simple well written pattern. This child’s sweater has classic style and perfect for transition into spring… later.
