TRADITIONAL BEGINNER SOCKS

Learn how to make socks using double pointed needles in the traditional fashion. You need not be afraid to attempt socks, we will help you every step of the way. You will be making an adult size sock. Students need to know the basics of knitting before taking this class, cast on, cast off, knit and purl. You will need a set of double pointed needles size 1 or 2, one ball of sock weight yarn, 1 stitch marker and darning needle.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

COLORWORK COWL

Have you been dreaming of trying color work but scared off by the long charts and stitches? Well this is the class for you! This beautiful cowl has only a 6 stitch repeat pattern – oh and it's knit in the round – NO PURLING!!

The pattern is written for either worsted wt. Or fingering wt. and it has two lengths to choose from. There is something for everyone in this class! You will learn to read and make a color work chart, use a provisional cast on and how to do the Kitchener stitch for grafting. Using 5 different colors – just think of all the colors you can choose from! And did I mention it's all in the round! You will also need 16” circular size 4 or 8 needles and stitch markers.

CANYON COWL (CROCHET)

This is a truly fun and exciting piece to spice up your fall wardrobe. Using 3 colors, this slip-stitch pattern resembles a woven look. BEGINNING KNITTING

Learn all the basics of knitting. This is the class for you if you’ve never picked up a pair of needles or if it’s been way too long since

you’ve tried. You will learn to cast-on, knit, purl, increase, decrease and cast-off. Upon completion of this class you’ll be ready to embark on just about anything. Let us guide you on your journey into fun with all kinds of project ideas & different fibers. Needles and yarn for practice are included in the cost of the class. *If this class is full make sure to add your name to the list for the next class. Ages 8 and up welcome.

FELTED CHRISTMAS STOCKING

This Holiday Stocking will be an heirloom piece! Marie Mayhew’s Patterns are fun and creative! You can choose from the Crazy Quilt or Victorian design. This is knitted and then felted. Just like a regular sock, you will even learn how to turn a heel! Note: Very important to use the same brand of yarn throughout the project, different brands felt at different rates. Do not mix brands. If you wish to learn methods to embellish your stocking, see the additional class on Oct. 28th. NUNO FELTING SCARF WORKSHOP

This project uses a silk scarf blank as a foundation for light layers of wool fibers that gently gather the fabric during the felting process. Students will become familiar with terms and tools used in the felting industry; the cold water flat felting process, wool roving choices, and the result of overlapping the different fibers with friction. Embellishment techniques will be discussed depending on time available. Students need to bring 2 large bath towels, a thin plastic drop cloth, dish pan or gallon size bucket and large sponge. Gloves are recommended for those with sensitive or dry hands. Supplies needed include $5-10 worth of roving depending on type of design desired which can be purchased at class time.

TODDLER SOCKS

Learn all the basics of a regular size sock in this miniature version for a toddler. We will be learning a toe-up & short-row style heel. You will need double pt. needles size 6, worsted wt. yarn, stitch markers & tapestry needle.

SKILLS BUILDING AFGHAN

Learn new skills, tips and tricks while knitting six different 12 inch squares. We will be cabling, knitting with 2 colors, creating pockets, learning about gauge, intarsia, sewing seams and more.
Take one class, or take them all. We will use worsted wt. yarn and students should bring needles sizes 6 – 9 as we will be determining gauge in class.

SULTANA FINGERLESS MITTS

These seemingly multi-directional mitts are deceptively easy to make.

We'll be using double pointed needles sizes 10 ½ and 13 on a super-bulky weight yarn. We used 1 hank of Montana print for our sample. You'll also need a stitch marker and tapestry needle.

BROOKLYN FINGERLESS MITTS (CROCHET)

Still in the fashion spotlight for this year, these crocheted fingerless mitts are also functional in keeping your hands and wrists warm. You will be learning an extended single crochet, ribbing and the slip stitch. We used a lovely charcoal heather in Tara Tweed and completed it with a great button accent. You will need a size G hook and tapestry needle. Keep an eye out for the matching boot topper class that will be offered in December.

2 SOCKS ON 2 CIRCULARS

Do you suffer from “second sock syndrome”? - I did that - why do I have to do it again? Or have trouble making both socks the same size? Knitting both socks at the same time allows your socks to always turn out the same size at the same time! Learn to knit 2 socks at the same time using 2 circular needles - any length will do! Participants should have experience working with circular needles and have made at least 1 sock using double pointed needles. Students may choose fingering or dk wt. sock yarn and the appropriate size needles.

This class is a great project for a new knitter whose ready to advance to working with circular needles in the round. You will need a super bulky yarn – at least 60 yards and size 15 – 16” circular needles. Also a stitch marker and lg. tapestry needle.

EMBELLISH YOUR FELTED KNITTING

We will learn some basic techniques to embellish your felted knitted items. This is a fun follow up class for the Felted Holiday Stocking class but also fun for slippers and bags. Bring a project along and I will show you a few basic embroidery stitches, and techniques for giving that project some finishing touches. You may use whatever scraps of yarn, roving, pearl cotton, buttons, felt, crystals, beads, pom poms, tassels, whatever....

BEGINNER BULKY MITTENS

Learn how to knit mittens! They can be great fun, and with super bulky yarn, they will be done in no time. This is also a great class for those who want to learn how to knit with double pointed needles. Students need to know the basics of knitting before taking this class, cast on, cast off, knit stitch, purl stitch. You will need 132 yards of super bulky yarn, we used Encore Mega, one set of size 11 double pointed needles, med. stitch holder, locking stitch marker and darning needle.
